Student Union

The Student Union is an organization operated mainly by students to promote exchanges between Japan and Russia from student perspectives at the Union of Institutions of Higher Education of the Russian Federation and Japan.

Main Activities

  • Organization of the Student Forum by student representatives (on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the Union of Institutions of Higher Education of the Russian Federation and Japan to share issues related to exchanges between the two countries and propose visions for such exchanges)
  • Information sharing/provision using social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (e.g., the provision of information and/or answers to questions about life when studying abroad)
  • Organization of exchange meetings for students and representatives of the business community in cooperation with the Union of Institutions of Higher Education of the Russian Federation and Japan, and organization of student-initiated seminars and other events at places where universities are located
  • Ongoing networking activities:
    • Support for students studying in each other’s country by students with experience of exchanges between the two countries (to strengthen the bonds between the countries)
    • Support for students wishing to study in each other’s country by students with experience of exchanges between the two countries (to promote vertical relations that go beyond the bounds of universities)
    • Cooperation among students engaged in exchanges between universities (to promote horizontal relations)

Structure

  • Student organizations with experience of exchanges between Japan and Russia (effective operations by the establishment of regional blocks)
  • Students of member universities of the Union of Institutions of Higher Education of the Russian Federation and Japan (with experience of exchanges between Japan and Russia)
  • *Other universities (e.g., universities engaged in exchanges with member universities of the Union) may participate as observers.
  • One or two students representing each region, who promote activities as key members of the Student Union
  • Graduates, who support activities as alumni.
