Inter-University Exchange Project

Inter-University Exchange Project

The Inter-University Exchange Project (Re-Inventing Japan Project) is a funding project launched by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology that aims to foster global human resources who can be active in the international arena and to strengthen the capacity of the global development of university education. Assuring the quality of higher education, it provides financial support to efforts for the formation of collaborative programs with universities in such areas as Asia, the US and Europe that conduct study abroad programs for Japanese students and undertake the strategic acceptance of foreign students.

In FY2017, as the Support for the Formation of Collaborative Programs with Russian and Indian Universities, financial support is provided to projects that implement quality-assured exchange programs (Type A) and platform-building projects (Type B). The maximum funding period is for five years.

Type A: Projects that promote international exchange

Type A projects implement quality-assured collaborative educational programs with universities in Russia or India that involve dispatching Japanese students abroad and proactively hosting foreign students in Japan with the aims of fostering global human resources who can be active in the international arena and strengthening the capacity of the global development of university education.

Type B: Platform-building projects

In Type B projects, each university selected for platform development with Russia and India serves as the secretariat for platform development and works to establish a platform for sharing information and experience gained through respective programs—a platform that will contribute to the activities of the selected universities and other universities across Japan that will be engaged in exchange with Russian and Indian universities.
