In December 2018, the Project on Japan-Russia people-to-people exchange and human resource development was carried out in Saint-Petersburg. As part of the project, the following events aimed at the students of Saint Petersburg State University and Saint-Petersburg State University of Film and Television were organized:
1) seminars introducing Japan’s most visited cities starting from Hokkaido (Otaru, Hakodate, Sapporo) and Japanese culture;
2) lessons of conversational Japanese;
3) counseling sessions for students interested in traveling to and studying in Japan.
The Media Center of Saint Petersburg State University made a video covering the seminar, which was shown as part of the news programs by Russian TV channels. The Japanese delegation also visited both universities and had meetings with their staff and students for gathering information on tourism in Saint-Petersburg, the system of Japanese language teaching and the curriculum, and for discussing future joint projects.
