Health and Medicine

Health and Medicine

This specialized section corresponds to the theme of “Extending length of healthy living” in the eight-point cooperation plan proposed at the Japan-Russia Summit meeting in 2016, and is led by Niigata University, which has a quarter-century track record of medical exchanges between Japan and Russia.

The section aims to promote the development of highly skilled professionals capable of contributing to the improvement of health and medical care services in Japan and Russia. For this purpose, based on its two-pronged approach consisting of student exchanges and faculty research exchanges, member universities collect, share and disseminate information and experiences regarding their educational programs and research exchanges. Multiple Japanese universities have already been engaged in exchanges with Russia in the fields of medical science and medical care, including those adopted for the Inter-University Exchange Project, and their counterpart institutions are located across Russia. Accordingly, this section uses those existing networks as its basic infrastructure. Member universities also work to form consortiums with the support of governments, banks and other private companies in the two countries.

Participating universities:
Niigata University (leader university), Hokkaido University, University of Tsukuba, Kanazawa University, Nagasaki University, Tokai University, Fukushima Medical University
