Japan-Russia joint project on advanced analytical chemistry implemented by Hokkaido University Graduate School of Engineering

Hokkaido University Graduate School of Engineering implemented Japan-Russia joint project on advanced analytical chemistry.

Duration: From 12 January 2020 to 16 March 2020 (65 days)

Number of participants: 6 (1 professor and 1 student at Moscow State University, 1 professor at Tohoku University, 1 professor and 2 students at Hokkaido University)

Activities:

A student supervised by Professor Mikhail A. PROSKURNIN of Moscow State University visited Japan and conducted research on high sensitivity of fluorescence polarization immunoassay at Hokkaido University. In addition to research guidance, the team of Hokkaido University actively encouraged interaction between the student from Russia and students and faculty members inside and outside the laboratory. The team held a Skype meeting with researchers from Tohoku University, Moscow University, and Hokkaido University, including Professor Akihide HIBARA of the Institute of Multidisciplinary Research for Advanced Materials, who is an expert in fluorescence polarization measurement at Tohoku University. The meeting was devoted the progress of the experiment and the continuing joint research. In guiding the experiment conducted by the student from Moscow State University, the team succeeded in increasing the sensitivity of fluorescence polarization immunoassay by modifying the surface of the sample cell and improving the detection system. On this occasion, Prof. HIBARA of Tohoku University also acted as a research supervisor for the student of Moscow State University. Working in collaboration with several universities enabled the team to contribute to the effective development of human resources.
