On November 15 and 16, 2019, the Far East Medicine and Health Fair was held in Khabarovsk, Russia. The event was organized by Niigata Consortium for Japan-Russia Medical Sciences and Educational Exchanges and co-hosted by Far Eastern State Medical University.
Seminars on Medicine and Health were conducted by professors of Niigata University, providing the information on medical care relevant to the residents of the Russian Far East.
The fair was held for the first time in order to widely share the information and knowledge possessed by Japan and Russia in the medical and health field and to contribute to improving the health of the residents of the Russian Far East. On the 15th, the first day of the Fair, Niigata Consortium representatives visited the SAIKO medical examination facility, which uses Japanese diagnostic technology and equipment, and paid a courtesy call on the Assistant Deputy Minister of Health of Khabarovsk Krai and the Consulate General of Japan in Russia to share their views on the ongoing cooperation between the two countries in the health and medical field.
On the 16th, the second day of the Fair, a seminar for the general public was held at Far Eastern State Medical University. Three professors from this university and Niigata University gave lectures on the cutting-edge breast cancer treatment, lung diseases common among the elderly, and medical care for the elderly in Japan, and answered numerous questions from the audience. The seminar was attended by approximately 270 participants, including local residents, medical students and people from all walks of life.
